Following a distinguished 32-year career in the U.S. Army as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, a commander and a medical researcher, Dr. Hale collaborated with KLS Martin to develop ground-breaking solutions for jaw deformities.

As a result of this collaboration, Dr Hale is pleased to introduce the KLS Martin Preprosthetic — the only FDA-approved, patient-specific device, for the treatment of edentulous ridge deformities.

This innovative product by KLS Martin allows patients to avoid the complications and failures often
experienced with traditional dental implants. It offers a more predictable and durable solution, backed
by advanced engineering and surgical expertise.

In 1989, Dr. Hale founded his full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in Northridge, California. Over the following years, he held several key leadership roles at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, including:

Military Service

Colonel Robert G. Hale, DDS (Ret.) began his military career in 1977 after graduating from UCLA. Over three decades, he became a leader in trauma care, surgical innovation, and humanitarian medicine—shaping the future of craniomaxillofacial surgery for both soldiers and civilians.

He served early tours in Korea (1981) and Hawaii (1982–1985), and after 9/11, was deployed to Kuwait, Iraq (2003–2004), and Afghanistan (2004), where he performed hundreds of facial trauma surgeries. In 2005,
he left private practice in Los Angeles to lead surgical programs at Brooke Army Medical Center, later directing craniomaxillofacial research for the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research and advising the
Army Surgeon General.

Dr. Hale has published extensively and lectured internationally on battlefield trauma and reconstructive surgery. In 2009, he received the Humanitarian Award from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Discover Magazine, and the book Hurt by Dr. Catherine Musemeche.

Throughout his 32-year career, Dr. Hale was honored with some of the military’s highest awards, including:
